Durable Coating
When Novo Nordisk A/S renovated their facility in 2008 – 20 years after the tanks were originally coated – they asked Accoat to inspect the tanks to see whether the coating was in need of repair or whether the tanks needed a complete re-coat.
”We knew that Accotron was a very durable coating, but we were positively surprised; the coating was in exactly the same condition as when the tanks were coated 20 years ago, there was no damage or corrosion whatsoever. The only thing the tanks needed was a clean up. Whether the coating will last for another 20 years I don’t know but it is an extremely durable coating,” says Carsten Jensen from Accoat’s sales department.
About Accotron
Accotron is a thermo-plastic fluoropolymer anti-corrosion coating.
Accotron is widely used in chemical reactors, storage tanks, distillation towers and temperature sensors; areas where the coating has to withstand concentrated acids. Accotron is particularly good at protecting objects from sulphuric acid, at temperatures of up to 120°C.
In the semiconductor industry, cleanliness and, therefore, ventilation, are crucial. Accotron is widely used in the semiconductor industry as an internal coating for ventilation ducts. The gases found in such ventilation systems are often aggressive and the coating provides corrosion protection, at the same time as its tight-knit structure makes the ducts easy to clean.
